Functional Behavior Assessments

Service Description

Functional behavior assessments are used to develop a baseline and determine whether an intervention will render measurable changes. A functional behavior assessment collects a variety of data about an identified maladaptive behavior to evaluate the conditions in the context and environments within which it’s already occurring. Data collection methods may include both direct and indirect methods such as observation, interviews and data collected by parents and/or caregivers. When a pattern emerges through the evaluation of these data, the professional forms a hypothesis about the function/reason why behaviors may or may not be occurring.
